Urged Perak Goverment to put Simbol Ipoh Little India

Today on the news paper Perak Government has been urged to name a street in the Teluk In­­tan district to honour the late Val­lal Rengasamy Pillai,

Here I like to propose to Perak Government too that still no any naming board or Simbol about ipoh Little India town. So here I urged Perak Government for looking it as soon as posible.

Normaly Ipoh Little India is very famous among our indians for shopping.

Last year Deepavali Night Pakatan Rakyat Perak executive councillor A. Sivanesan was announce that Part of the proceeds collected from stall rented balance will be used to build an arch in Ipoh Little India but until today he did’t settle there promises.

Parti muncul dan berkubur, tapi MIC kekal bertahan...

MIC tidak akan tergugat walaupun pemimpin Hindraf yang baru dibebaskan dari tahanan di bawah ISA mahu menubuhkan parti politik, kata Presiden MIC, Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu.

Menurutnya, dalam tempoh beberapa dekad yang lalu, banyak parti politik kaum India muncul tetapi kemudiannya berkubur begitu sahaja, tetapi MIC terus kekal bertahan."Selama 64 tahun kewujudan MIC, begitu banyak parti politik kaum India ditubuhkan, tetapi tidak lama selepas itu, ianya berkubur... Ia bukan satu ancaman kepada kita," katanya kepada pemberita di Kuala Lumpur.

Menyentuh tentang populariti Hindraf, Samy Vellu berkata, terdapat satu soalan yang masih belum terjawab."Berapa besarkah penyokong pemimpin Hindraf, beberapa peratuskah sokongan yang mereka ada, kita tidak boleh menilainya berdasarkan kepada apa yang kita lihat pada 25 November 2007 (sewaktu protes jalanan)."MIC ada cara baru untuk berbuat sesuatu, cara baru untuk menarik orang muda datang dan bekerja dengan MIC sekarang," tambahnya.Samy Vellu diminta mengulas mengenai kemungkinan Hindraf menubuhkan parti politik bagi melebarkan lagi perjuangannya.

Ini ekoran keputusan kerajaan membebaskan kesemua lima pemimpin Hindraf yang ditahan di bawah ISA.Mereka ditahan pada Disember 2007selepas mengadakan protes besar-besaran yang disertai ribuan penduduk India Malaysia bagi menyuarakan kekecewaan mereka terhadap kerajaan.Hindraf kemudiannya diharamkan oleh kerajaan hingga sekarang.

Kecam ManoharanDitanya mengenai kemungkinan mengadakan dialog dengan pemimpin Hindraf, Samy Vellu mengecam seorang pemimpin Hindraf, M Manoharan.Katanya, beliau tidak akan berdialog dengan pemimpin Hindraf ekoran kenyataan yang dibuat oleh Manoharan dalam reaksinya terhadap kenyataan setiausaha agung MIC, Datuk Dr S Subramaniam."Bila saya berkata hello, bolehkah saya berjabat tangan dengan anda dan anda menggigit tangan saya, itu bukan (sifat) manusia, kita tidak meminta mereka menyertai MIC, kita tidak mahu mereka, gayanya amat berbeza, dia orang DAP, macam mana kita nak minta mereka menyertai (MIC)? MIC adalah MIC, DAP adalah DAP."Budaya mereka juga amat berbeza, (budaya) mereka adalah budaya pembangkang," tambahnya.

Manoharan, yang juga ADUN Kota Alam Shah dilaporkan berkata, beliau tidak akan sekali-kali menyertai MIC kerana beliau dilahirkan untuk bersama DAP.Manoharan berkata, beliau juga menolak budaya MIC dan kerana itulah beliau tidak membenarkan penyokongnya memakaikannya kalungan bunga sewaktu dibebaskan dari Kamunting.Sebelum itu, MIC melancarkan portal barunya untuk berinteraksi dengan golongan muda kaum India melalui internet.Menurut Samy Vellu, portal tersebut akan dijadikan lidah rasmi parti itu dan untuk pendaftaran ahli melalui talian."Masyarakat kini boleh berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi dengan MIC pada bila-bila masa dan di mana-mana sahaja. Kita mahu mendengar suara masyarakat, kita mahu mereka memberitahu kita apa yang mereka mahu dan bagaimana kita boleh membantu mereka."Bila kita buat silap, kita mahu masyarakat memberitahu kita, menasihat kita dan memberi cadangan. Inilah bentuk hubungan yang kita mahu wujudkan dengan pihak masyarakat," tambahnya.

Hindraf mahu Manogaran kekal ADUN, pertikai peranan Pakatan

Pertubuhan Hindraf yang telah dibubarkan, mahu salah seorang pemimpin yang masih ditahan di Kamunting, M. Manoharan kekal sebagai Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Kota Alam Shah.
Pada waktu yang sama, Hindraf mempersalahkan Pakatan Rakyat kerana tidak mengambil usaha yang menyeluruh untuk membebaskan Manoharan daripada tahanan bawah Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA).
"Kami merayu kepada Manoharan supaya mempertimbangkan semula keputusannya (yang kini serius mempertimbangkan untuk mengosongkan kerusi DUN).
"Penduduk di Kota Alam Shah tahu siapa yang mereka mengundi apabila memilih Manoharan sebagai wakil mereka," kata Pengerusi Hindraf, P. Waythamoorthy dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.
Kata beliau, Hindraf percaya bahawa pengundi Kota Alam Shah telah bersedia untuk menghadapi keadaan yang dilalui sekarang apabila wakil rakyat mereka tidak dapat bersama mereka secara fizikal kerana ditahan di bawah ISA.
"Oleh kerana pengundi berada 100 peratus berada bersama wakil rakyat mereka, Manoharan tidak harus letak jawatan dan perlu terus kekal sebagai wakil rakyat kerusi itu," katanya lagi.
Waythamoorthy berkata, Hindraf juga kecewa kerana selain kenyataan media tiada tindakan konstruktif dan positif di pihak Pakatan untuk membebaskan Manoharan ataupun mengurangkan bebannya dalam usaha berkhidmat kepada pengundi-pengundinya. "Rakan-rakan dalam Pakatan perlu memperlihatkan tanggungjawab mereka dengan serius untuk mengekalkan keyakinan yang diletakkan pada mereka dengan mengambil tindakan-tindakan proaktif dan kempen berterusan untuk membebaskan Manoharan dan kesemua tahanan yang lain," katanya lagi.
Kelmarin, Manoharan mengesahkan beliau sedang memikirkan untuk mengosongkan kerusi itu kerana rasa bersalah dan tidak adil tidak mampu menunaikan tanggungjawab kepada pengundi serta menghadiri persidangan Dewan Undangan Negeri Selangor.
Penasihat Undang-Undang pertubuhan haram Hindraf itu ditahan pada 13 Disember 2007. Pada pilihan raya umum 8 Mac 2008, Manoharan memenangi DUN Kota Alam Shah mengalahkan calon Barisan Nasional (BN), Ching Su Chen.
Sementara itu, Kerajaan Selangor menjelaskan Exco serta Ahli Majlis Perbandaran Klang (MPK) membantu memberi perkhidmatan kepada penduduk Kota Alam Shah walaupun Manoharan ditahan ISA.
Exco Kerajaan Tempatan, Kajian dan Penyelidikan Selangor, Ronnie Liu berkata, bantuan bagi memastikan kerajaan negeri terus menjaga kebajikan pengundi di kawasan berkenaan.
Beliau berkata, selain isteri Manoharan, S Pushpaneela, empat lagi pembantu dilantik bagi memberikan perkhidmatan kepada penduduk.

Speaker DUN Perak: Ganesan sahkan dicalon ganti Sivakumar

Setiausaha Badan Perhubungan MIC Perak, Datuk R. Ganesan mengesahkan yang namanya telah dicalonkan untuk menggantikan Speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Perak, V. Sivakumar daripada Pakatan Rakyat minggu depan.
Bekas Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Sungkai itu menjelaskan, beliau telah memberi persetujuan untuk dilantik ke jawatan tersebut apabila DUN bersidang Khamis ini.
"Saya telah menandatangani surat persetujuan dilantik ke jawatan Speaker dua hari lalu, 29 April," kata beliau ketika dihubungi mStar Online sebentar tadi.
Beliau juga merupakan anggota Jawatankuasa Kerja Pusat (CWC) MIC dari tahun 2000. Beliau memenangi kerusi DUN Sungkai dengan menewaskan A. Sivanesan dari DAP pada pilihan raya umum 2004.
Ganesan, 57, lulusan undang-undang menambah, beliau bersedia untuk memikul tanggungjawab tersebut jika diberikan kepercayaan oleh parti.
"Saya adalah penyokong parti dan apa jua keputusan dibuat oleh parti, saya akan menyokong.
"Dalam hal ini, saya mengucapkan terima kasih kepada pucuk kepimpinan MIC dan Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir) kerana memberikan kepercayaan memegang jawatan ini," katanya lagi. "Saya telah mendengar khabar angin bahawa saya akan dilantik sebagai Speaker sejak beberapa hari yang lalu dan ada dua nama lain turut disebut-sebut... ia cuma menjadi pasti kelmarin apabila surat persetujuan diberikan kepada saya oleh BN untuk ditandatangani," katanya.
Laporan media menyebut antara nama turut disebut-sebut ialah Datuk Dr. S. Vasan yang pernah bersaing di kerusi DUN Pasir Panjang pada Mac 2008, yang dimenangi oleh bekas Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
USUL
Terdahulu, Bernama melaporkan, BN telah menamakan Ganesan sebagai calon Speaker DUN Perak yang baru.
Memetik tulisan Sivakumar dalam blognya: speakforperak.blogspot.com, laporan itu menyebut bahawa usul tersebut telah diserahkan ke Pejabat Setiausaha DUN Perak di sini pada pagi semalam.
Usul bertarikh 29 April lepas itu dicadangkan oleh Zambry dan disokong seorang Exco Datuk Hamidah Osman.
"Surat persetujuan daripada Datuk R. Ganesan untuk dipilih sebagai Speaker Perak juga disertakan bersama-sama usul ini," katanya.
Sivakumar pada satu sidang akhbar di sini semalam ketika ditanya mengenai usul pelucutan jawatannya, katanya beliau mengakui memang ada usul yang diterima berkaitan perkara itu tetapi menegaskan pihaknya belum membuat apa-apa keputusan lagi.
Zambry pada minggu lepas telah mengemukakan usul kepada pejabat Setiausaha DUN Perak untuk melucutkan jawatan Speaker V. Sivakumar seterusnya melantik speaker baru pada persidangan DUN dijadual 7 Mei.
Usul itu yang disokong Hamidah menerusi surat bertarikh 22 April lepas diterima Setiausaha DUN, Abdullah Antong Sabri pada 23 April dan diberi notis untuk dibawa pada Mesyuarat Pertama, Penggal Kedua, DUN Perak ke12 pada tarikh yang ditetapkan itu.
Abdullah dalam suratnya kepada semua 59 ADUN Perak bertarikh 27 April lalu berkata, sekiranya usul itu diluluskan dalam mesyuarat berkenaan, urusan mesyuarat berikutnya ialah pemilihan Speaker baru.
Berikutan itu, beliau meminta semua ADUN mengemukakan cadangan bagi memilih Speaker baru menggunakan borang pencalonan yang dikepilkan bersama dengan surat berkenaan.
Nizar pada sidang akhbarnya semalam ketika ditanya mengenai usul untuk melucutkan jawatan Sivakumar, berkata semua ADUN berhak mengemukakan apa saja usul dan terpulang kepada Speaker untuk tindakan seterusnya.
Bekas Exco Kanan Perak yang juga Pengerusi DAP negeri, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham sebelum ini dilaporkan berkata ADUN pakatan PAS-DAP-PKR tidak akan memberi maklum balas terhadap usul tersebut kerana mendakwa notis yang dihantar Abdullah itu tidak sah disebabkan Setiausaha DUN Perak telah digantung tugas oleh Speaker bulan lalu.

Deputy Leader S.Ramesh and other 2 delegates also retained their seat uncontesed.In his opening speech,Division Leader Thiru urged the Indian Youth to show more interest in obtaining goverment sponsored loans/ scholarships like TEKUN, Amanah Saham Nasional / Wawasan. He also urged Branch Youth leader to be more active in recruiting more members at branch level. 100 ex-PKR and Hindraf members join MIC

About a hundred former PKR and Hindraf members have joined MIC Youth, says the movement’s chief T. Mohan.
Mohan said the members, aged between 18 and 40, submitted their application forms at the MIC Youth headquarters here yesterday.
He said the youths from Klang, Kepong, Puchong and Cheras were led by K. Kumaresan, a former personal assistant to Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam.
He said this group left PKR and Hindraf after realising that they had been misled by promises from the PKR-led government.
He also said 1,000 youths were expected to join MIC in a soon-to-be launched recruitment drive called “Let’s join MIC”.

Call to revamp RTM Tamil news

MIC Youth has called on RTM to revamp its Tamil news and programmes, claiming the current ones are of poor quality.
“They are there merely to fill up programme slots,” said movement chief T. Mohan.
He added that the Tamil news needed to be more timely and to use a pro-Government concept.
“The activities of Indian leaders are also seldom given sufficient coverage in the Tamil news segment, so much so that we have to rely on private television networks,” he said after presenting a memorandum to Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim at his ministry yesterday.
Mohan said the lack of quality of the Tamil news and programmes further distanced the MIC from the Indian community, as 70% and 80% of them watched RTM’s Tamil news.
The MIC wing also wanted more space for its community activities and to highlight the Government’s contribution to the community.
Another appeal is for the ministry to revert the Tamil news time slot from 6pm to between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

Mahkamah batal penggantungan Zamry dan exco

Mahkamah Persekutuan hari ini membatalkan penggantungan terhadap Menteri Besar BN Perak, Datuk Zambry Abd Kadir dan enam ahli exconya daripada menghadiri sidang Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Perak.
Zambry dan enam exconya itu, sebelum ini memohon kepada Mahkamah Persekutuan untuk membatalkan keputusan Speaker DUN Perak, V Sivakumar yang menggantung mereka selepas BN menubuhkan kerajaan negeri di Perak Februari lalu tanpa pembubaran DUN.Zambry digantung selama 18 bulan manakala enam exconya digantung selama setahun.Mahkamah memutuskan hari ini bahawa tindakan Speaker itu adalah terbatal tidak sah kerana Sivakumar tidak mempunyai kuasa untuk berbuat demikian.Oleh itu, katanya, Zambry dan enam exco terbabit boleh menghadiri sidang DUN yang akan datang.Oleh itu, Presiden Mahkamah Rayuan, Datuk Alauddin Mohd Sherif yang mengetuai panal lima hakim itu berkata, keputusan tersebut dibuat sebulan suara.Manakala, Zambry berkata, notis untuk mengadakan sidang DUN akan dikeluarkan Jumaat ini atau minggu depan.

'Cina, India bukan peminta sedekah'

Pengundi bukan Melayu "tidak mahu dilayan seumpama pengemis" - apabila menjelang pilihanraya, mereka ditaburkan dengan pelbagai projek pembangunan dengan harapan mereka memilih calon BN, kata jurucakap rasmi MCA. "Bukan Melayu tidak suka dilayan seperti peminta sedekah, hanya ketika pilihanraya kecil, lebih banyak penaikan taraf jalan dilakukan, peruntukan kepada sekolah, NGO dan badan amal meningkat," kata ahli jawatankuasa pusat parti itu Lee Wei Kiat.Beliau mengulas wawancara Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin semalam yang melihat ketewasan besar BN di parlimen Bukit Gantang dan DUN Bukit Selambau sebagai sikap tidak kenang budi pengundi bukan Melayu terhadap kerajaan. Ditanya Mingguan Malaysia "bukankah setiap kali pilihan raya kecil, permintaan kaum bukan Melayu dipenuhi, malah di Bukit Gantang walaupun peruntukan RM1 juta diberikan tetapi kaum Cina tidak juga menyokong BN", timbalan presiden Umno berkata: "Ya, kadang-kadang kita berasa terpedaya juga kerana zahirnya nampak macam 'OK', sambutan dengan tepukan gemuruh tetapi mungkin sudah ada tertanam dalam hati iaitu sesuatu tidak mudah hendak berubah, pokoknya masalah isu Perak terutamanya di kalangan masyarakat Cina yang mungkin telah dipengaruhi dengan sentimen simpati kepada Datuk Seri Ir Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin, kononnya dia 'dijatuhkan', lepas itu kononnya dasar memberi pegangan tanah selama 99 tahun dilihat dasar yang menguntungkan. "Ini yang mungkin menyebabkan sukar BN mendapat sokongan walaupun kita fikir bila mereka hendak sekolah Cina dibantu, kita bantu, sepatutnya mereka membalas budi. "Pada waktu itu, kita pun tidak berharap sokongan kaum Cina akan meningkat 40 peratus dan sebagainya cuma kita berharap ada peningkatan sedikit tetapi apa yang berlaku ia mencatatkan penurunan, macam tidak ada penghargaan terhadap apa yang kita lakukan." Wawancara pertama dengan Muhyiddin - selepas dilantik pemimpin nombor negara - mendapat liputan meluas akhbar-akhbar utama berbahasa Cina hari ini yang semuanya menonjolkan wawancara tersebut yang dianggap negatif kepada pengundi bukan Melayu. Sin Chew Daily melaporkan "Muhyiddin – Cina tidak bersyukur kepada BN', Nanyang Siang Pau "Cina kenakan BN. Muhyiddin – Dapat manfaat tetapi tidak beri undi" dan China Press pula "BN rasa tertipu. Muhyiddin - Penuhi tuntutan Cina tapi masih tiada sokongan".Selain MCA, Gerakan dan DAP juga membidas analisis Muhyiddin itu juga mendakwa pengundi Cina dan India kini menganggap diri mereka "kuasa penentu" kekuasaan selepas lima negeri, termasuk Kelantan, jatuh ke tangan Pakatan Rakyat. "Persoalannya apakah mereka melihat dalam konteks senario politik baru ini, selepas kerajaan BN tumbang di lima buah negeri, mereka sudah menjadi kuasa penentu? Orang Cina rasa sekarang, walaupun mereka kumpulan minoriti, merekalah menentukan kerana kelompok masyarakat Melayu sudah berpecah tiga kumpulan."Masyarakat Cina tidak berpecah mereka bersatu, setidak-tidaknya dari segi semangat apabila bersama-sama membuat sesuatu keputusan. "Dalam keadaan ini, mereka boleh menentukan keputusan sesuatu pilihan raya dan apabila kesan itu dapat dilihat dalam pilihan raya umum lalu dan beberapa pilihan raya kecil, mereka fikir sekarang mereka lebih ada kuasa penentu, bukan sahaja Cina malah masyarakat India pun begitu, apatah lagi apabila mendapat kedudukan dalam kerajaan yang ditubuhkan pakatan pembangkang dengan menjadi timbalan ketua menteri, speaker dan exco kerajaan negeri, jadi ini bagi mereka seolah-olah tawaran yang diberikan oleh pihak sana lebih baik daripada kita pernah tawarkan dalam konteks BN, jadi ini kita harus teliti," Muhyiddin dipetik berkata dalam wawancara tersebut."Kebimbangan saya orang yang tidak menjadi penentu sudah menjadi penentu, orang Melayu yang majoriti sepatutnya menjadi penentu sudah tidak menjadi penentu. "Justeru bagi kita kalau boleh sebaik mungkin mereka bernaung di bawah sayap Umno, tetapi Umno yang relevan dan memahami cita rasa rakyat, Umno yang adil, Umno yang lebih bersedia untuk melihat dengan lebih saksama, ini kita kena fikirkanlah."Timbalan Presiden Gerakan, Datuk Chang Ko Yuan berkata pengundi Cina di dua kawasan tersebut sukar mengaitkan diri mereka dengan BN kerana ia tidak lagi menegakkan yang terbaik di Malaysia.""Amalan biasa (BN) menaburkan peruntukan tidak lagi membawa kesan kerana ramai yang melihatnya sebagai cubaan tidak bijak untuk meraih undi. Masalah mereka mesti ditangani berterusan dan menyalurkan peruntukan sewaktu pilihanraya kecil lagi berkesan dan meyakinkan," katanya. "Isu-isu yang lebih pokok seperti rasuah, penyalahguanaan kuasa dan kesaksamaan dalam kepemimpinan nasional dan sistem penyampaian kerajaan harus ditangani dahulu, barulah pengundi yang lari daripada BN pada 3 Mac 2008 akan bersedia kembali (bersama BN)."Chang sebaliknya mencadangkan idea "Satu Malaysia. Semalam ada Ketegangan tercetus antara penyokong MIC dan PKR di Bukit Selambau.Ketua umum PKR seorang pembohong terbesar malaysia telah mengkritik Perdana menteri serta presiden parti MIC.Anwar membohong kali kedua terbesar di Bukit Selambau, iaitu dia kata ada satu kejutan akan diumumkan malam semalam tetapi kini dia menukar pengumuman tersebut pada 7 April, kali kedua rakyat kena tipu dimana kali pertama dia kata 16 Sept beberapa Ahli parlimen akan menyertai Pakatan Rakyat serta dia akan merajui negara sebagai perdana menteri.Saya juga tidak faham kenapa Anwar menipu rakyat serta rakyat terus menaruh harapan terhadap Anwar pembohong Malaysia. Bring religious education to Tamil schools: MIC Youth

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Youth has urged the Government to implement religious education in Tamil schools as a measure to overcome social ills in the Indian community.
MIC Youth coordinator T. Mohan said religious education would help steer youths away from damaging activities.
“It is saddening to see reports of Indians being involved in gangsterism and violent crimes in the newspapers of late. We believe these youths had not been given any religious education,” he told reporters after chairing the national council meeting here Monday.
Mohan said the wing had already submitted a letter to Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein requesting religious education be introduced in Tamil schools.
“We are undertaking some research and will submit a memorandum to the ministry within four months,” he said.
Mohan said the results would not be seen overnight but he was sure of positive results within five years.
“We have to start somewhere to ensure that there is a future for our generation in the country,” he said.
Mohan said the wing would also have discussions with Indian-based non-governmental organisations to find ways of reducing the incidence of crime within the Indian community.

Controversial move to change the name of Klang’s famous Little India to Medan Kelana has sparked a public outcry.
Elected representatives, businessmen, tourists and even a state executive council member want the name Little India to be retained.
Despite the controversy, the municipal council is soon going to remove the name Little India from two signboards here, and put up new ones declaring the place as Medan Kelana.
The name was chosen as the main road in Little India is called Jalan Tengku Kelana.
Klang municipal councillor Ho San Sang confirmed the name change, saying it was part of a “rebranding exercise.” The district tourism committee member did not elaborate.
State exco member Dr Xavier Jeyakumar told The Star the name change would defeat all the hard work that had gone into building Little India into a tourist icon, and that the move would also erase the identity of the area.
Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim
said he would bring this matter to the state exco because it was wrong to simply change the name of a place that could affect tourism.
Little India here is a famous shopping enclave with 100 pre-war shops on either side of Jalan Tengku Kelana. It draws shoppers by the thousands and is an important income generator for Klang.
Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Klang District) chairman N.P. Raman said changing the name would also erase the identity of Klang’s Little India – which had been built into a household brand known all over the world after 50 years of hard work.
American tourist Michelle Smith, 25, and her friend Miyoko Takagi, 23, said it would be a shame to change the name of a place so easily recalled by tourists.
Klang resident Wong Wei Yin, 63, said many people were unhappy with the name change because folks here had fond memories of the area linked to the Indian community.The star.

Today i Like to touch about what was MIC President Dato Seri S.Samy Vellu pointed to Pakatan Rakyat MP Prof P.Ramasamy and several Pakatan MP's contributions to our Indian Community.I was very disappointed with several Pakatan indian MP's they was realy failure to do what they promises to the people.....specially one of incident happen On Deepavali Night 2008 at Ipoh Little India. Former Perak Pakatan Indian Exco was condemm that MIC fail to put Signboard LITTLE INDIA here. So he promise Pakatan will settle to put the Sign board ...but until today nothing was put on that place... Just this is small promises also cannot setlle it what about biggest promises..... Today MIC can List up what was MIC done for our community....What about Pakatan RAkyat indian MP's?

Prof P.Ramasamy was challenging Dato seri Samy Vellu he is indian represent in Malaysians and Pakatan Rakyat had more Indian representatives in Parliament compared with Barisan and the MIC. What for? No any benefit for Indians... What are benefit talk by Pakatan rakyat for indian at parliment.

Every week Dato Seri Samy Vellu will meet and settle 200 to 400 people's problam at MIC head cotress. How many People Prop. Rama meet and settle in per week? Can he show it?



The Indian community has not benefited despite the appointment of DAP’s Prof P. Ramasamy as a Deputy Chief Minister in Penang, said MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
“We feel his appointment was a sheer waste based on his zero performance,” he said.
“Although the Pakatan Rakyat government has been credited for appointing the first Malaysian Indian to a powerful post, the community has been let down.”
Samy Vellu was commenting on Ramasamy’s call to the Federal Government not to channel any allocations meant for the Indian community through the MIC as the party would only mismanage it.
He said Ramasamy, who is Batu Kawan MP, should stop harping on trivial matters but instead concentrate on doing something meaningful for the Indian community.
“With his background as a university lecturer for 30 years, Ramasamy could have used his position and experience to bring development and initiate new plans for Indians not just in Penang but also in the whole country,” said Samy Vellu.
He said he was shocked to see a man holding such a high position being unable to understand how the government machinery operates.
He said that it was through the MIC’s initiative that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced, after chairing the Cabinet Committee for Indian Affairs, various goodies for Indians, including a 7.4% quota in civil service jobs and a RM50mil allocation for Tamil schools.
Samy Vellu said that Ramasamy had also publicly announced that he was not representing a particular community, although the Indians had placed high hopes on him to bring about change.
“What good is it to have an Indian placed in a very powerful and influential post, when he has done nothing for the Indian community, let alone the other races?” he asked.
Samy Vellu said Ramasamy had only questioned and challenged the economic and social transformation and benefits initiated by the MIC for the Indians through the Federal Government.
“He picks on what we do and takes credit by saying if not for Pakatan Rakyat there would be no move on the part of the Federal Government to bring social development to the Indians,” he added.
Samy Vellu challenged Ramasamy and other Indian elected representatives from Pakatan Rakyat to list their contributions to the Indian community.
“Don’t just take credit for making noise over certain incidents, but tell us what you have done for the betterment of Indians economically and socially,” he said.

Umno Youth angrily mobs Karpal in Parliament

The group had been waiting at the parliament tower for Karpal and as soon as he arrived they surrounded him and started heckling him over his warning to Pemuda Umno yesterday.He accused Umno Youth of having sent him two bullets while debating the Royal Address."Where did the celaka Pemuda Umno fellows get the bullets?" he had asked while pronouncing himself not afraid.The drama started when Karpal was confronted by the 22-member group comprising Selangor Umno Youth members as the MP was making his way into the parliament's tower block at 2.45pm.

The group had been waiting for Karpal since 1.30pm.Noticing the veteran politician, the group surrounded the wheelchair-bound Karpal and demanded that he apologise for remarks made against Umno Youth in the House on yesterday. However, Karpal refused to recant his allegation that the wing had sent bullets in the mail to him recently, as well as using the term “celaka” (damn) to berate the movement.Pakatan Rakyat MPs - Fong Kui Loon (DAP-Bukit Bintang), N. Gobalakrishnan (PKR-Padang Serai) and Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut), who just came back from lunch, went to Karpal’s aid after being informed by parliament staff of the incident.They claimed they were roughed up by the mob, with their bodies pushed and shoved by several Umno members. "One even pulled my tie. At one point, I nearly fell into the fountain," Lim claimed.However, the trio manage to wheel Karpal into the House, while the Umno Youth group continued to heckle and shout at them.Moments later, Liew Chin Tong (DAP-Bukit Bendera) tried to cool down the situation but he was greeted by more shouts."Who are you? Go away," shouted several members of the mob..Karpal's son, Gobind Singh (DAP-Puchong), who sprinted to his father's aid, traded verbal blows with the group. At one point, Gobind and a member of the mob had to be restrained by their respective members to prevent fisticuffs. The situation improved after BN Backbenchers Club (BNBBC) chief Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing appeared and urged the group to disperse. "Please go back and respect the House. We can't have such incidents happening here," he told them.Gombak Umno Youth chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, who was part of the mob, told reporters that they are Umno members “willing to die defending the party.”"He (Karpal) must stop insulting the Rulers and the Malays," he said. “Our patience is running out.”Karpal immediately took up the matter in Chambers and demanded to know how the group made it into the compound."What security is the House providing?" he asked speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who promised to investigate and assured members that everything was done to protect them."I am disabled but not intimidated by this. The police were there and they just watched," Karpal claimed.Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said not agreeing with Karpal was not an excuse to get physical with him. "We must come up with a ruling that all parliamentarians must be protected," he said.Later, at a Press conference at the Parliament lobby, Karpal remained defiant despite the scare. “I maybe in a wheelchair but I will not be cowed or intimidated by anyone,” the MP dubbed the Tiger of Jelutong said. The Press conference was also attended by Pakatan Rakyat leaders and members. Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP parliamentary leader, Lim Kit Siang were at Karpal's side.The MP for Bukit Gelugor also declared he would not apologise for the terms he had used while debating the Royal Address yesterday.“There is no question of apology," he said. "They abused and threatened me and insisted I apologise. I said that was out and told them back off. They were becoming menacing and they looked like they were ready to hit me."Karpal likened the group antics as to that of brazen gangsters. “As an MP, I have duties which I will carry out without fear,” he said.Karpal also criticised parliament security. “Each time we start the sitting, there is a motion by the Home Minister to ensure that members have safe passage to parliament and are safe from any disturbances while here. How could they allow them to enter the parliament compound? Where is the security?” he asked.Despite the incident, Karpal did not lose his sense of humour. “Singh is King. I should be paid royalty for promoting the movie (the Bollywood movie). I will share the royalty with you all (looking at the press),” he quipped.Karpal had twice referred to the title of the movie in passing as a way of reinforcing his credentials as a fearless man.Opposition leader, Anwar said he was disappointed with the uncultured behaviour of the Umno Youth members. “I demand fast action from the authorities that MPs are safe and their security assured,” he said. Lim said this was the first time the Parliament history that such an incident had occurred. “It is shameful and outrageous. It is in violation of parliament sanctity. This shows how ugly Malaysian politics have become,” he said.Lim called on Umno Youth Chief Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein and Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to publicly apologise for this outrage

Saya merasa amat pelik dan kecewa apabila YB … telah melarangkan 7 orang Exco termasuk Menteri besar Perak Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir daripada menghadiri sesi DUN Perak selama 18 bulan manakala enam Exco berkenaan digantung selama 12 bulan daripada menghadiri sesi DUN.Sebenarnya beliau tidak boleh mengambil keputusan sebegini tanpa menghadiri ke sesi Dewan Rakyat kerana Hakim juga membuat keputusan dimakamah bukan di Office Ini menunjukan bahawa beliau bermotif Politik.
Semalam 19/2/2009 kompunan parti BN Termasuk Pemuda MIC Negeri Perak dan juga Badan badan NGO Membuat Laporan polis terhadap Speaker YB Sivakumar itu biar undang undang buat keputusan.Saya agar Sediwara politik Perak akan Selesai secepat mungkin seterusnya memfokuskan masalah Rakyat di Negeri Perak.

Two by-elections: One MP dies, one rep quits

The country will face two by-elections within the next 60 days after a Member of Parliament (MP) in Perak died, while a Kedah assemblyman quit -- both on Monday.
Bukit Gantang MP Roslan Shaharum of PAS died of a heart attack on Monday morning, while Bukit Selambau assemblyman V. Arumugam of PKR quit his seat and his position on the Kedah executive council in the afternoon.
Arumugam, the sole Indian Pakatan Rakyat state executive councillor in Kedah, resigned amidst allegations linking him to a “marriage scandal.” He won the Bukit Selambau state seat in the March 8 general election last year as an independent, then subsequently joined PKR.
He was said to have informed PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of his decision in a discreet meeting in Ipoh on Sunday.
Arumugam was the Domestic, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Siamese Community, Unity, Estate Workers and Indian Community Affairs committee chairman.
Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said that Arumugam has tended his resignation letter to the Sultan of Kedah’s office on Monday.
Arumugam was said to be under a lot of pressure to defect and had even lodged a police report on threats that he allegedly received.
Azizan said that he knew that Arumugam had personal problems but he did know the details.
He said that the state exco would be reshuffled in March and he would name someone to fill Arumugam’s post then. Until then, he himself would assume the portfolio temporarily.
“The seat is allocated to PKR thus we will select a PKR assemblyman for the seat. If PKR does not want the seat, we will then offer it to other Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen,” he said.
In BATU GAJAH, Roslan's death would pave the way for yet another by-election.
“Once we receive official notification of his death by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker (Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia), we will have a special meeting to discuss when to call for a by-election,” Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof told The Star's Malay portal, mStar.
The Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau by-elections would make it four by-elections to be held since the 12th general election last March.
The first was in Permatang Pauh last year when its Member of Parliament Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail stepped down to make way for her husband, now Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to contest.
Anwar won the seat, which marked his return to Parliament after a decade.
The second was in Kuala Terenganu in January following the death of its MP Datuk Razali Ismail last Nov 28.
PAS candidate Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut won the seat, beating Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh and independent Azharuddin Mamat @ Adam.
The Bukit Gantang constituency has three state assembly seats under it: Trong, Kuala Sapetang and Changkat Jering, whose assemblyman Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu quit PKR last week to become an independent.
The Pakatan Rakyat alliance is already gearing up for the by-election, with Perak DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham suggesting former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the ideal candidate.
“I believe Nizar is a symbolic figure in view of the present circumstances in which the state government has been toppled by the Barisan Nasional through an undemocratic and unconstitutional way.
“It is an opportunity for the people of Perak, hopefully through their peers in Bukit Gantang, to express what is in their heart -- whether they will accept the power-grab by Barisan.
“This is the message we want the people of Bukit Gantang to express,” he said before briefing Perak DAP members on the latest developments in the state on Monday.
Barisan wrested the state back from Pakatan last week after three assemblymen quit from their parties (including Mohd Osman from Changkat Jering), and a fourth defected back to Umno from PKR.
While both Barisan and Pakatan hold 28 seats each in the 59-seat state assembly, the three said they would remain independent but pledged their support to Barisan.
This led to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, to declare that Barisan had the majority and allowed it to form the state government.
Ngeh said Nizar was well accepted by Malays, Chinese, Indians and orang asli (aborigines).
“Nizar is an efficient leader. I personally believe that he will get full support from the people,” he said.
However, Ngeh said the Perak DAP would accept and support any candidate recommended by PAS.
“There may be other reasons, strategies and plans that PAS may have. We will respect and go full force to assist and support its candidate,” he said.
Heart problemsMeanwhile, according to family members and the police, the 50-year-old Roslan had sent his car to a car-wash near his home in Changkat Larang near here when he complained of chest pains.
He borrowed a bicycle from one of the car-wash workers to go to the nearest pharmacy.
His body was found at a slip road by passersby at 11:15am, Batu Gajah OCPD ACP Najib Mohamad said.
Roslan, who leaves behind a wife and 11 children, was formerly the human resource director of Perak Economic Development Corporation.
Last July, he was named chairman of Perak’s education foundation, Yayasan Perak.
According to Roslan's daughter Fatimah, 21, the whole family had been in Cameron Highlands for a family outing over the weekend when her father received a call on Sunday evening.
He was summoned to a meeting at the home of the former mentri besar Nizar, who has refused Sultan Azlan Shah’s call for him to step down.
“He was there until 1.30 in the morning, and left home at 10am,” Fatimah said.
His wife Safiah Harun, 50, said Roslan had collapsed once about a month ago on an official visit to Taiwan because of a heart problem.
The funeral will be held at 6pm Monday at his kampung (village) in Changkat Larang, she said.
In the March 8 general election last year, Roslan had polled 20,015 votes against Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi’s (Barisan Nasional) 18,449 votes.
The third candidate was an independent, M. Morgan, who got 872 votes.

Perak gov't collapses - BN claims power

MIC Youth wants independent probe into Kugan’s death

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Youth on Friday called for an independent inquiry into the death of suspected car thief A. Kugan.
Its coordinator T. Mohan said the inquiry would be able to shed light on what had happened. The 22-year-old Kugan died in police custody on Tuesday after being detained for five days.
He was being held under a two-week remand order to facilitate investigations into several luxury car thefts.
Mohan also denied claims that Kugan’s family had “barged” into the Serdang Hospital mortuary on Tuesday night to look at his body.
“In fact, it was the hospital authorities who gave permission for the family to identify the body,” he said, adding that family members were shocked to see the injuries on the body.
Mohan denied Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar’s allegation that the family had “tampered” with Kugan’s remains during the incident.
“DCP Khalid seems to have jumped the gun by shifting blame to family members when the actual culprits ... are still free,” he said.
According to the post-mortem report, Kugan died because he had liquid in his lungs. It is however not known what caused this.
MIC Youth division leaders throughout the country have lodged more than 25 reports at various police stations urging an investigation into Kugan’s death as well as for action to be taken against Khalid.
The state police chief had earlier vowed that there would be no cover-up in police investigations into the death.
Meanwhile, Klang MP Charles Santiago criticised Khalid for trying to protect his officers and for claiming that Kugan had died of breathing difficulties.
“I have watched the video recording of Kugan taken at the mortuary and there were severe marks on his body, deep cuts on his wrists and bruises on his legs,” the DAP politician claimed.
Santiago said this was not the first case of police detainees being abused or of custodial death.

Three-state-exco-members-dropped-from-penang-pkr-line-up

Three Penang state exco members - Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, Law Choo Kiang and Abdul Malik Abul Kassim — have been dropped from their Penang PKR positions.
Balik Pulau division chief Dr Mansor Othman, Deputy Speaker Tan Hock Leong and state PKR election director Mustafa Kamal Mohd Yusoff will reportedly replace them in the Penang PKR leadership.
Certain Penang state exco members from PKR have been embroiled in controversy in recent weeks.
A PKR source told me the removal from state leadership positions means they will be unlikely to contest in the next general election.
It is part of a “national shake-up of the party” ahead of a national PKR convention in February to discuss internal party matters, he said. “We are reorganising at all levels throughout the country.”

MIC veteran Ubaidulla dies

PETALING JAYA: Veteran MIC politician Tan Sri S. O. K. Ubaidulla Kadir Basha (pic) died at his Bukit Pantai home here at 10.30am yesterday.
MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu and other leaders paid their last respects to him at 1pm.
Ubaidulla, who was in his 90s, was the former chairman of the Ubadi Foundation and was a founder member of the MIC in 1946.
He was the former permanent chairman of MIC, a senator and also Dewan Negara deputy president.
Ubaidulla received the Tokoh Maal Hijrah award in 1989, and was also credited with the formation of the Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and was also the founding president of the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (Perkim) in 1961.
Samy Vellu said Ubaidulla had dedicated himself to the community and helped bring advances.

Hindus upset over board’s interference in procession

GEORGE TOWN: The Hindus in Penang are unhappy with the Penang Hindu Endowment Board’s interference in the organising of the silver chariot procession on Thaipusam eve.
Hindu Action Network chairman G. Mugunthan said yesterday that from the public feedback he received, the Hindus were “disturbed and uncomfortable” with the board’s interference in the running of the procession by the Nattukotai Chettiar Temple trustees.
“The Chettiar community has been doing a fine job organising the procession for over 100 years in a professional way,” he said.
United Hindu Religious Council deputy president A.K. Suppayah, who was the board’s assistant secretary for 21 years, claimed that the board did not have the locus standi to interfere.
“What powers does the board have to encroach into the affairs of the trustees?” he asked.
He said the chariot procession was the prerogative of the Chettiar community here “because it is their own function.”
It was reported yesterday that the organisers of the Thaipusam procession would meet Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over a proposal that the silver chariot make a stop at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Queen Street on Feb 7.

Hudud: Samy Vellu sifatkan Karpal 'gentleman'

Presiden MIC, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu hari ini memuji Pengerusi DAP, Karpal Singh sebagai pemimpin yang berprinsip ekoran tindakannya secara terus-menerus menentang usaha PAS melaksanakan undang-undang hudud meskipun pemimpin lain parti itu mengambil pendirian bertentangan.
"Karpal adalah seorang ahli politik gentleman dan seorang veteran. Walaupun kami ada perbezaan pandangan, saya menghormati beliau tetapi tidak boleh mengatakan yang sama ke atas pemimpin-pemimpin DAP yang lain, yang hanya berminat untuk memenangi pilihan raya kecil ini berbanding masa depan negara (jika undang-undang hudud diperkenalkan)," kata beliau selepas berkempen di sini hari ini.
Samy Vellu, bekas anggota Kabinet, berada di sini sejak malam tadi untuk meraih sokongan pengundi-pengundi India di sini dalam pilihan raya kecil kali ini.
Karpal, kata Samy Vellu, selaku Pengerusi DAP sentiasa memperlihatkan pendirian konsisten apabila menyatakan pandangan tentang sesuatu isu.
"Kita mempunyai pandangan yang berlainan di Parlimen tetapi apabila beliau mengemukakan perkara baik, saya akan memberi laluan.
"Saya akan menjawab soalan beliau semasa saya di Parlimen jika ia sesuatu yang munasabah dan baik. Saya menghargai prinsip-prinsip beliau," katanya.
Karpal yang menyatakan pendirian tegas selama ini kelmarin berkata, parti itu sanggup bekerjasama dengan PAS dan Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), sekiranya PAS dan PKR tidak meneruskan usaha untuk melaksanakan undang-undang hudud.
"Dalam politik telah dikatakan bahawa tiada musuh atau rakan yang kekal, tetapi prinsip yang kekal perlu dimiliki oleh setiap parti politik," kata Karpal.
Karpal berkata, PAS dan PKR perlu menerima hakikat bahawa hudud tidak pernah termaktub dalam perundangan negara.
"Keamanan dan keharmonian di kalangan rakyat pelbagai anutan di negara ini tidak boleh digugat dengan percubaan untuk mengubah Perlembagaan Persekutuan," katanya.
Pada Rabu lalu, Penasihat PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim berkata, penganut Kristian tidak perlu merasa gusar sekiranya masyarakat Islam mahukan undang-undang Islam.
Presiden PAS Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang pula berkata, hukum hudud adalah untuk orang Islam sahaja sementara bukan Islam boleh memilih untuk dibicarakan di bawah undang-undang sivil.
Karpal berkata hujah tersebut tidak logik.
